ASSN Warmly Welcomes Freshers for the 2026/2027 Academic Year; Outlines Key Registration and Accommodation Directives

As the University of Education, Winneba officially opens its doors today, Saturday, September 12, 2026, to welcome fresh regular students for the new academic year, the Association of Students with Special Needs extends a warm and vibrant welcome to all freshers, with a dedicated emphasis on supporting students with special needs. Speaking to the ASSN media team, the Convener of the association and Presidential Advisor of ASSN, Mr. Joseph Essien, expressed joy in receiving the incoming cohort and assured them that they are joining a supportive and inclusive community where their welfare remains a top priority. He highlighted that under the government's Free Tertiary Policy, students with special needs are fully exempted from paying all hostel and accommodation fees. Incoming freshers are instructed to report directly to their assigned Halls of Affiliation where designated association representatives are stationed to facilitate smooth registration and room placement. To authenticate their status and complete hall check-ins, students must present their admission letters, medical reports, and passport photographs. Furthermore, starting Monday, September 14, 2026, all fresh students with special needs must visit the Resource Centre for Students with Special Needs, located at the FES block in room 104, bringing along their admission letters and medical reports for official institutional registration and enrollment into the association system. Mr. Essien also extended this warm reception to returning continuing students with special needs, assuring all members that the association remains fully committed to assisting them throughout their academic journey.
